CU Agency

Dodgy ‘talent’ agency for models, actors, singers and performers. The author was never paid for his work which entailed working on 6 TV and films sets as an extra from April to June 2008 (once in 2006). By September 5 2008, after 3 explicit attempts to extract his money, and having been given the run around each time, and whereby the issue of payment was completely avoided within conversation regarding new assignments, he had still not been paid his wage owed. In this respect, the agency’s owner and manager ‘Sharon’ is a thief:

Sharon

He had agreed with, and told the author that the agency pays its ‘talent’ contractees at the end of the following month after work is completed, and this is regardless of whether or not a production company pays him that money first, with his firm taking legal action if necessary in regards to non-paying companies.

On the set of a TV advertisement, one extra told the author that in a couple of years this was his first assignment, with himself having pursued work with the firm a number of times after having paid an agency fee.

A new publicly traded fund listed in Tel Aviv with equity positions already in a basket of privately held VC-backed companies and a few public ones. Its specialty is allowing entrepreneurs of private companies and their investors to forgoe a small portion of their firm’s equity (10%-20%) in return for equity in Juneau, in addition to receiving cash. This then exposes these individuals to the outcomes of many more companies than just their own, if they choose to keep their Juneau shares.

Hence, Juneau essentially allows entrepreneurs and their co-investors to cash out of their business to a small degree and become holders of a publicly-listed private equity mutual fund, that in turn has a portion of equity in the entrpreneurs’ firm. Thus, entrepreneurs and their co-investors are essentially divesting from their company. However, the company could actually benefit if such funds are injected back into it, rather than being a straight signal of lost faith, which may or may not be the case.

In contrast, if an entrepreneur were instead to utilize a private equity exchange:

  • company valuations would instead be set by market participants, not Juneau’s investment committee.
  • entrepreneurs and their investors would have more control regarding their firm’s provision of shares to that exchange, not just 10-20%.
  • more discretion would be provided with regards to the number and degree of exposure to other companies receiving an investment, not just that seen in the Juneau portfolio.

Maintains know-how on radically driving the cost down of converting lignocellulosics (biomass) into fermentable sugars and eventually ethanol using the well established Bergius method that was used extensively in the 1940’s but not widely since due to its high costs. This process involves optimizing the recovery of hydrochloric acid (HCL) from aqueous solutions and also has other applications in HCL dependant industries. Cellulosic wastes include wood, solids from city sewage plants, bagasse and grasses. The firm is raising capital and intends to license its technology.

Pioneered a new approach to reverse osmosis desalination by implicating closed circuit desalination based on hydrostatic principles. These principles enable a process in which the flow rates of pressurized feed and permeate are equal, thereby substantially reducing the capacity of the pressurizing means and avoiding any need for energy recovery techniques. Its vision is to establish its technology as the leading reverse osmosis technology and to reduce the desalinated water prices to a level which will make them affordable to many thirsty developed and developing communities.

Aims to be a producer of sea floating reverse-osmosis water desalination barges. Currently seeking funding with first production barges not yet built.

Alternatively, barges can preside on land close to a sea coast. Acquapro barges are modular and can thus be constructed according to varying sizes and scale on demand. By combining the most efficient, mobile, off-shore desalination with efficient transmission, treatment, and storage, AcquaPro’s product eliminates much of the high environmental, political, and fiscal costs that make land-based water treatment plants expensive and excessively time-consuming to set up.

A basic barge supplies 5 million gallons (19 million liters) of water daily, enough to supply 50,000 average-sized households or more on an emergency basis, or a good-sized community on a regular basis. Being mobile, Acquapro barges can be moved to safety in the event of natural disaster, war or other hazard, and likewise be quickly deployed anywhere in the world according to circumstance.

Purchasing options include outright plant acquisition, build-own-operate and build-operate-transfer. Also leasing on both short and long-term bases.

Offices in Mississippi and Wyoming, USA.

Formed to develop and commercialize feedstock conversion technologies for biofuel producers. The company is applying patent pending processes to a variety of second generation feedstocks, including algae and various cellulosic materials, to create biodiesel and ethanol. By using these low-cost/high-yield feedstocks, biofuel producers will be positioned to compete with petroleum fuel producers on the free market, independent of any subsidies or mandates. The company’s expertise includes both process conversion and plant design/construction. Inventure currently operates a biodiesel and ethanol R&D production site in Seattle, Washington where it is currently producing biodiesel and ethanol from algae sourced from various suppliers, including Seambiotic. Using algae feedstock, the company has produced biodiesel that meets stringent American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards. Inventure is in the final stages of closing its second round of private financing.

Seambiotic

Grows and processes marine microalgae using a revolutionary ecologically based environmental system. Seambiotic’s technology and unique know-how can be profitably exploited in two major areas: Biofuel and Omega 3 Oil. For the last five years, the company has carried out an extensive R&D pilot study at the Israeli Electric Corporation’s power station near the city Ashkelon, Israel. Throughout the study, new and advanced research methods have been developed for cultivation of various species of marine microalgae using the power station’s CO2 emissions released directly from their smokestacks and which pass through pipelines directly to Seambiotic’s open ponds. The pilot plant has yielded an impressive concentration of algae containing a high percentage of lipids and carbohydrates in a very short term, promoting the production of bio-fuel. Seambiotic’s patent technology efforts in cultivating microalgae utilizing flue gas emissions from power plants is a great step towards the reduction of air pollution and global warming.
